September 16 - November 18, 2025
Online, Instructor Led Course
Participants in this program learn and apply technical skills to rapidly launch and grow green loan products at their community lending institutions. Since 2020, this program has trained over 400 lending institutions across the country. Graduates of the instructor-led training courses earn a Solar and Green Lending Professional Certificate from the University of New Hampshire and Inclusiv and may earn UNH course credit towards a Master in Community Development degree.
Class meets virtually on Tuesdays – September 16 to November 18, 2025, from 2:00-3:30pm ET.
Course Goal
Prepare community-based, mission-driven lenders to make a strategic shift to integrate clean energy into their everyday multifamily lending practice.
Course Audience
- Community-based and Mission-Driven Lenders such as CDFIs, Credit Unions, Banks or Green Banks; generally, we expect students that are already engaged in multifamily lending.
- Organizations should bring a senior leader to the Course from among the following:
- Executive Staff member such as CEO or COO if they can commit the time
- Director of Lending (the supervisor of the loan officers)
- Another senior staff member such as a Director of Strategic Initiatives
- The organization should empower the team to lead the design of a lending program /product prior to the class beginning.
- We recommend taking the course as a 2-person team. The 2-person team taking the course may utilize assistance from other members of their organization to complete course assignments as long as those team members are responsible for the quality of the final work submitted and for integrating all work into the organization’s lending program plan.
Course Delivery
This course is an instructor-led live virtual course that spans 9 weeks. Each week, participants join a 90-minute Zoom session with the instructor, co-instructor and peers focused on that week’s module, building on discussions and problem-solving based on assignments, videos, and readings through a virtual Learning Management System, Canvas.
Each week, participants should expect to spend 6-8 hours of time dedicated to this course, including both the live session and asynchronous assignments. The course not only benefits participants with functional knowledge of clean energy lending but also builds relationships between community lenders that have historically endured beyond the classroom.
In addition to class time, the instructor and co-instructor offer open office hours for students to ask questions and receive additional support, and the course draws on multiple subject matter experts who are experienced in the field of community green lending.
Course Pricing
Tuition is $3,900 per participant for the full program. If additional staff join from the same institution for the same course period, the additional tuition is $3,500 per participant. For example, if two participants join a course from the same institution, total tuition would be $7,000.
If you are able to bring a group of 10 or more people to the training (they can be from multiple organizations), please contact sara.varela@unh.edu for special reduced pricing.
