This two-part unit provides an overview of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in Early Childhood Special Education. The unit provides resources for planning for field Investigations, project-based learning, and Understanding by Design. Participants explore ways to build student engagement, showcase student achievement, and assess student learning. Through the creation of STEM lessons, participants learn specific ways to promote meaningful connections among their students, and develop special education students’ metacognition, self-reflection, and growth mindset.
