This two-part unit explores the topics of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment including classroom set up, thoughtful planning of instruction and assessment methods, and the careful selection of instructional resources for instruction in the content areas of Arts, Literacy, Math, Science, and Social Studies. In the first part of the unit, participants draft, revise, and cumulatively build a lesson plan that addresses their current students’ needs. Part II of the unit asks participants to continue developing their lesson planning skills to include more advanced curriculum concerns and theories of education such as Universal Design for Learning, Project-Based Learning, Multiple Intelligences, Constructivism, and Emergent Curriculum.
