This unit explores the skills necessary to develop an integrated approach to teaching and learning. Part 1 covers cultural and psychological aspects of learning mathematics, models of instruction and planning, teaching and learning styles, assessment strategies, equity in the mathematics classroom, and the role of technology and media within these. Part 2 of the unit reviews more theory about how the brain learns mathematics (particularly to the preadolescent and adolescent brain), assessment, models of instruction, and planning for using manipulatives and technology to enhance student learning.
