PDT-TchLA-10 - Strategies for Teaching Persuasive Writing (Gr. 3-8)

Course Description

Common Core has increased emphasis on opinion/persuasive/argumentative writing, especially in grades three to eight. While most teachers have always incorporated persuasive type of writing into their instruction, the frequency and depth of this writing has increased dramatically. The online course will provide teachers with the instructional strategies and lesson ideas for implementing persuasive writing lessons. You will learn how to move away from formulaic and predictable persuasive writing into a more fluid, engaging style. Teaching students how to narrow down their information, develop that information, and organize that information will be a focus for the workshop. One week prior to the course during the Intro Week, you will establish a UNH IT account required to access the Canvas online teaching system and receive detailed information from the instructor.
