Course Description

IMPORTANT NOTICE: This program is scheduled as a face-to-face classroom training during the Fall 2020 semester, but may be moved online due to future recommendations for distance learning due to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).  Any updates will be posted on this page and all enrolled students will be notified by email of any anticipated curtailments.

Our goals in health education is to support students' development of health literacy and to empower students to make health-enhancing choices across the lifespan. In order to support transfer and application of their learning in health education to their "real lives," we must measure their ability to do so and provide feedback to help them improve performance and build self-efficacy.

This session discusses hands-on assessment strategies that measure students’ abilities in skills of the National Health Education Standards. Participants will take a deeper dive into the performance indicators of the National Health Education Standards and practice strategies for designing and implementing performance-based summative assessment as a tool for your measuring student learning, growth and levels of skill proficiency.
