Course Description

NEW!  In these uncertain times, ensuring that we incorporate Social and Emotional Learning into our day to day teaching practices has become more important than ever. Social and Emotional teaching and learning is not actually new. We have always taught the whole child; it is impossible to do otherwise. And we will continue to teach the whole child in whatever form learning takes during this Global Pandemic -be that in-person, remotely, or with a blended learning approach. Teachers can integrate social-emotional learning into their classroom practices in any of these scenarios. We need to be deliberate and knowledgeable about the how, what and why when incorporating Social and Emotional Learning practices into our repertoire as we embrace learning this year -no matter what our “classroom” looks like.

The key is to embed social and emotional practices into our content and curriculum.

This workshop will provide teachers with the knowledge and understanding of methods to actively teach and support social and emotional skill attainment for our students as a tool to engage them in content learning. During this learning experience, teachers, administrators and other education professionals will learn and experience evidence-based methods to integrate social and emotional practices into their content curriculum which will support a positive and safe learning environment (whether that be remote, in-person, or in a hybrid scenario) where students are engaged in learning.
