Course Description

During this intensive week-long course, each student will build a set-neck, solid-body electric guitar completely from scratch. There will be two model options based on iconic American designs from the mid-20th. Century. Throughout the week, various topics will be addressed including the history of the solid-body electric guitar, various construction techniques, wood selection, electronic & hardware options, finishing techniques, and setup/maintenance. As there is very limited time, this workshop requires perfect attendance, an excellent work ethic, and a great attitude. Power tools, such as routers, bandsaw, drill press, and belt sander will be utilized
during this workshop - as such, tool safety and a professional attitude are a must. Upon completion of this course, students will have the knowledge to begin an exciting career in the field of lutherie, along with a heirloom-quality handmade guitar with a value of $3-4k. All materials will be available from the instructor, estimated cost $700+ depending on options.
