Course Description
Prepare your teams & equipment for winter with a full day "Snowfighters' Seminar" with UNH T2! We'll review best practices & innovations in winter operations including equipment and anti-icing & de-icing options as well as information and resources to support calibration. Discussion will include how salt works - and how it doesn't work - brine, liquids, and pre-treat & pre-wet options, as well as determining application rates from awareness of pavement and air temperature, weather forecast, and other variables. We'll also discuss winter safety, as well as driver wellness and defensive & safe driving.
This full-day, interactive seminar from UNH T2 delivers essential guidance for winter maintenance teams, focusing on best practices and innovations in snow and ice management. Whether you're managing municipal roads or private commercial sites, you'll walk away with tools, tactics, and talking points to support smarter, safer, and more efficient operations this winter.
Which one should you sign up for – Municipal or Private/Contactor tracks?
Snowfighters' Seminar focuses on two operator tracks - Municipal - OR- Private/Contractor - please register for a session that aligns with your employment type.
Snowfighters’ Seminar – Municipal : For public works departments and road crews. Emphasis on roads, lane mile rates, calibration, and highway fleet operations.
Snowfighters’ Seminar – Private/Contractor: For private snow professionals. Emphasis on parking lots, sidewalks, and commercial site maintenance.
Snowfighters’ Seminar – General: A special final session of the year where we’ll discuss practices from both target areas, so whether you work on the private or contracting side or in the municipal world, you’re welcomed to attend this one
**This course is a Green SnowPro initial (full) certification eligible course. Attendees who complete the full five hours of training as part of their interest to apply to NHDES for the Green SnowPro certification must pass the exam that is administered after class. Please note that the training fees charged by UNH T2 are separate of the application fee charged by NHDES for the Green SnowPro certification. UNH T2 is a training partner for the Green SnowPro program but is not the certifying agency.
Food/Services: Coffee and donuts will be provided in the morning, and lunch will be provided mid-day. Any special dietary considerations should be communicated to T2.Center@unh.edu at least one week prior to the event date.
Withdrawal Policy: In the event that you are unable to attend a program for any reason, please note you must submit your withdrawal via email to T2.Center@unh.edu or via phone message to 603.862.1362 at least 72 hours in advance of the start of a program to receive a refund. If a withdrawal is not received by UNH T2 at least 72 hours prior to the program start, the full program fee will be charged and is nonrefundable. Substitutions are allowable at any time, and UNH T2 staff will be happy to assist in registering an alternative attendee from your organization at no cost.
