Course Description

Guiding Eyes for the Blind is a non-profit organization that breeds, raises, trains, and provides guide dogs to people who are visually impaired. Guiding Eyes accomplishes this by using volunteers to help raise and train the pups who will become guide dogs. We will discuss the steps Guiding Eyes goes through to provide guide dogs, concentrating on the involvement of the volunteer puppy raisers. Topics will include an introduction to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, how a guide dog contributes to the life of a visually impaired person, the life of a guide dog, and how volunteer puppy raisers raise and train a potential guide dog. And yes, there will be time to interact with a puppy or two, currently training to be a guide dog!
