OLLI-NATR-6009 - The Forest & the Trees at the Florence Tarr Wildlife Sanctuary 

Course Description

Join Piscataquoq Land Conservancy-PLC Director Chris Wells and board member Dave Butler for a two-week course learning about conserving the natural environment of Southern NH.  Week 1 is presented online with Chris reviewing the basics of land conservation, including wildlife habitat, clean water, outdoor recreation opportunities, volunteer stewardship work, legal defense and advocacy. Week 2 is an in-person walk at the Florence Tarr Wildlife Sanctuary in Goffstown/Bedford.  While walking we’ll discuss impacts of past land use, forest disturbances and soil types.  As we encounter trees we'll discuss their habitat preferences and learn identification tips.  Dave will provide a history of the property, focused on the efforts of Florence Tarr to protect wildlife habitats in this rapidly growing region.
