Health insurance can feel overwhelming, but understanding the basics can make navigating the health care system far less confusing. Explore the different types of health insurance programs and eligibility requirements, with special focus on Medicare, including the differences between Medicare Advantage and Original Medicare, associated costs and factors to consider when choosing coverage. This course covers current issues with rising health care costs and the impact on patiences as well as how to read an explanation of benefits, understand cost-sharing terms and make sense of medical claims and coding. Participants will leave better prepared to navigate the health care system and advocate for themselves with greater confidence.
