In 1961, a quiet young man just one year out of high school watched three stock car races and declared, “We have to get one of those.” Sixty years later, Roger French looks back on the steps and missteps that kept him behind the wheel of 20 race cars and led to a nine-time championship career. Hear stories from the track, some funny and some frightening, and learn how French became both a successful racer and respected instructor who trained hundreds of drivers, including Tom Cruise. The course also explores the many behind-the-scenes roles that keep racing running, from flaggers and rescue marshals to pit officials and tech inspectors.
