Course Description

Rising temperatures are changing more than the weather—they’re reshaping how we live, work and thrive. Heat affects us physically and mentally, influencing the illnesses we face, the crops we can grow and the animals that share our environment. These changes also ripple through our economy and social systems. Across the country, cities are tackling urban heat islands, architects are designing cooler buildings, sports teams are rethinking training schedules and advocates are calling for stronger workplace protections against heat exhaustion and stroke. Hotter weather is even disrupting ocean currents, altering global climate patterns. This course explores what’s being done to adapt—from innovative technologies to community-level solutions. What ideas are working? Which need more momentum? And what can each of us do to stay safe and protect our communities? Summer is coming—let’s be ready.
