Course Description

Some call them drones, some apply the label “quadcopters.” The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) calls them “unmanned aerial systems” (UAS) or “unmanned aerial vehicles" (UAV).

No matter what we call them, they both are and aren’t new. Through major technology trends and advancements over the past decade, drones have (and still are) continuing to transform the way we assess certain tasks on a daily basis.

In this introductory course, we will look at everything from how UAV technology has changed since its arrival, to where we can predict it will go in the future. On top of this, students will grasp a better understanding of the current state of UAS technology, along with a firm understanding of local laws, licensing, documentation, business applications (starting/using for business), and much more.

This course serves as an elective in the Drone (UAV/UAS) Operator Certificate Program.
