Course Description

IMPORTANT NOTICE: This is traditionally a face-to-face classroom training program, but the April/May session will be held online in response to UNH's current recommendations for distance learning due to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Explore how the news business has changed in the last 20 years and what these changes mean for the news consumer.

Examining media practices in the pre-digital age and comparing them to news practices now, this workshop will help develop strategies for navigating the dizzying new media landscape – where we are and how we got here.

With readers acting more and more as their own gatekeepers, this workshop will explore skills for sorting out biased news, distorted news, real news, and fake news.
