Course Description

Interested in collecting your municipality's road network pavement assets?  Developing a pavement management plan and need to do some forecasting?  This session will cut straight to the point with how to inventory your pavement network with consistency.  Using the FHWA Pavement Distress Identification Manual, and referencing other tools and resources including RoadResource.org and NH's Statewide Asset Data Exchange Service (SADES), we'll review the various types of pavement distress you might encounter.  We'll then go out to the roadside to look for and identify various types of distress.  Alligator cracking, bleeding, joint seal damage, fatigue cracking, raveling, rutting, spalling, and many others terms - you'll leave this fast-paced session recognizing terminology and knowing how to identify various levels of pavement distress for proper preservation and management purposes.

This course is open to NH municipal and state public works agencies only.

Attendees should come prepared for time outside, including high-vis PPE to work roadside, appropriate attire to protect against insects and sun, etc.
