Course Description

ENVIRONMENTAL - 2 hours

In this workshop, you will learn the definition of "invasive plant", how to identify some of the invasive plants that are a problem in NH, and how these plants impact the environment and transportation infrastructure. Best management practices (BMPs) for roadside invasive plants will be described, especially if they relate to routine maintenance activities such as mowing, ditching, scraping, dredging culvert inlets, stockpiles, soil stabilization, and structure maintenance. A field trip will be taken to identify plants in the field and possible maintenance scenarios using BMPs learned in the workshop will be discussed.
