Course Description

Somehow over the years, we have witnessed a "too much, too soon" challenge in our Pre-K and K classrooms. Can we create a classroom that not only meets curriculum standards but also respects children’s natural developmental abilities? We all have heard that Kindergarten is the new first grade; however, how many students really can achieve and meet those standards without a lot of pressure? Whether it's the playful preschooler or the kindergartener who walks into your classroom, they bring a variety of skills. Some need more scaffolding than others. Whether it be motor, social-emotional, cognitive, visual perceptual, language, or sensory, we must address their needs for them to be successful in a school-based setting. Come to learn some new tricks, and discover how to weave curriculum into activities that are fun, engaging, and set the stage for their journey in education.
