Course Description

Making the transition from co-worker to supervisor can be stressful and awkward. This workshop addresses some of the challenges unique to the employee recently promoted from within. Through self-assessment and case study discussion, you'll learn how to gracefully manage that transition, navigate potentially awkward conversations, and avoid common novice supervisor mistakes.

In this program, you will also learn how to flex your supervisory style to precisely fit what different team members need from you to perform at their best.

The goal of this program is for you to walk away with:

  • Greater confidence and comfort in executing your supervisory responsibilities.
  • Greater confidence and skill in having the conversations you need to have to make this transition work.
  • The ability to be confident and assertive vs. resorting to a “remind them who’s the boss” approach which triggers resentment and resistance
  • A road map for gaining the respect of team members, peers and management; and building credibility and influence
  • Knowing how to deal with passive-aggressive or resistant employees
  • Reconfiguring friendships with former peers (separating personal and business issues)
