Course Description

In this workshop, we will explore the crucial Five Factors of Resilience that contribute to reducing the risk of self-injurious behavior in children, as identified in the National Institute of Health 2022 report, Suicide Resilience: A concept analysis.

The result of the analysis provides a clear definition of suicide resilience. Participants will engage in experiential activities that will introduce and demonstrate connecting these resilience factors, identified as crucial in the report, to classroom practice.

This workshop addresses the five factors through the lens of the Full Value Commitment.  Specific goals will include:

  • fostering a sense of belonging and support, teaching and modeling effective coping strategies including mindfulness practice,
  • techniques for cultivating inner strength,
  • normalizing asking for help and for peers to seek assistance,
  • goal setting as it reflects finding meaning in life of importance to students

Join us for this comprehensive and interactive workshop that combines theory with practice, enabling you to build resilience in your students and reduce the risk of suicide through supportive community connections, emotional intelligence, psychological strength, meaningful goals, and a sense of responsibility for oneself and others.
