This field course will include a presentation on vernal pool vertebrates and invertebrates and their life cycles. We will learn to complete NH Fish and Game and USACE vernal pool assessment forms and how to collect and interpret field data. This will include hands-on collecting of aquatic insects, field measurements of vernal pools, and the importance of these habitats to rare and endangered species. Be prepared for aquatic sampling and bring boots, a dip net, field guides, and binoculars if you have them. Lunch is included and the vernal pools are located within a ten-minute walk of the classroom.
