FEATURED SPEAKER

Developmentally Appropriate Strategies for Supporting Children to Be Happy, Healthy, and Strong Readers, Thinkers, and Talkers Before They Can Read Conventionally

This session is geared to preschool – kindergarten teachers and focused on ways to support and extend all of the things children do as readers before they can read conventionally. Kathy will show child-centered and developmentally appropriate ways that we can foster children’s healthy reading identities, deepen their meaning making skills, and interact in ways that expand their expressive and receptive language skills through interactions with books. Kathy will use video examples to share practical teaching ideas grown from her research and work with Matt Glover around ways to support children’s reading lives and identities right from the start.
