Course Description

New Workshop!

This workshop will focus on ways to engage students with disabilities in physical education/adapted physical education and recreational settings. We will utilize universal design concepts to develop lessons that accommodate the needs of your students with disabilities. You will have the opportunity to visit Northeast Passage, which is a unique recreational organization that utilizes a variety of adapted equipment. You will take part in a number of sports and activities specifically designed to accommodate individuals with disabilities. Intended outcomes for the workshop are twofold: an increased knowledge base on skill development for students with disabilities’ participation in physical education and recreational settings, and teaching and advocacy skills that enable educators to fully engage students with disabilities.
