Course Description
IMPORTANT NOTICE: This program is scheduled as a face-to-face classroom training during the Fall 2020 semester, but may be moved online due to future recommendations for distance learning due to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Any updates will be posted on this page and all enrolled students will be notified by email of any anticipated curtailments.
According to new research, 46 percent of teachers say they feel uncomfortably high, daily stress. Compared to other professions, teachers are experiencing a level of strain comparable with emergency service providers. In fact, a recent report showed that almost half of all teachers surveyed agreed with the statement, "The stress and disappointments involved in teaching…aren’t really worth it."
With a focus on mindful awareness, this workshop will coach teachers to take charge of their own well-being by targeting challenges specific to the teaching profession. Tips, tools, and techniques will be offered that can be applied both in and out of the classroom.
In this collaborative, experiential workshop, teachers will be encouraged to reflect on their reasons for choosing their career and discuss how they can renew their passion for teaching. In transforming their relationship with stress, teachers can strengthen their own ability to remain calm and present, directly influencing student learning in a positive way.
