Course Description

FEATURED SPEAKER

Every classroom has one or more students with behavioral problems that challenge even the most effective teachers, paraeducators, and other school personnel. In this workshop, you will learn evidenced-based, classroom-based prevention and response strategies designed to support students with social, emotional and/or behavioral challenges. Educators will be able to understand the nature of students with challenging behavior and the classroom climate, core values and positive behavior expectations conducive to learning. Strategies will include: self-regulation, responses to student behavior, and avoidance of power struggles. In addition, the strategies will be embedded in multi-tiered framework and aligned with data-based decision-making to assess effectiveness. You will be given practical examples and materials and have opportunities to practice designing and using the strategies.
