Course Description

New Workshop!

This hands-on workshop will explore practical ways to use Internet resources and digital tools to enhance instruction through the five C's framework. You will review and discuss standards-based instruction along with key principles of language acquisition in order to lay the groundwork for building strong language and cultural competence. You will learn effective techniques for using web-based resources and tools to develop students’ four language skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking), as well as connect them with speakers of other cultures (cross-cultural understanding). Sample lessons will be used for discussion and can be easily tailored to meet the needs of your students. You will learn how to use various digital tools (e.g., VoiceThread, Quizlet Live) with minimal effort and create performance tasks for your classes incorporating authentic materials and tools into the planning and assessing of lessons. Bring a laptop or iPad for maximum benefit.
