PDT-TchGN-47 - Brain-based Teaching II: Teaching to Your Strengths
Course Description
In the first Brain-based eeaching course, you learned the basics of brain anatomy and brain maturation. You also learned how to use that knowledge to identify strengths and weaknesses within your students and how to use those strengths to mitigate the weaknesses in order to help the students to realize their full potential.
In the second course, you will learn how to recognize and value your own strengths and match them to your teaching needs. You will also learn how to help students identify and use their strengths and to recognize students who may have different strengths that have not been previously recognized. You must complete the first course in order to take the second. This is the second in a series of 5 courses.
Teachers, professional coaches/trainers, paraprofessionals, and school administrators will learn to help students identify and utilize their strengths to ensure their success. The course will take approximately five hours per week. You will learn from short weekly presentations, written materials, and videos; complete online assignments; and participate in online discussions as a part of interactive weekly, or bi-weekly, meetings that will be recorded for those unable to participate live. During the Intro Week, one week prior to the start of this course, you will establish a UNH IT account required to access the Canvas online teaching system, followed by detailed information from the instructor(s).
