Course Description

This workshop will focus on the 21st?century preteen and teenager in a school environment. Often, their behaviors can be unexpected and variable. Just 15 years ago, it was blamed on hormones. Now we know that the brain is going through a transformation. Come to this workshop to better understand the teenage brain and its ability to prune itself and specialize.  Gaining new information about this brain research can help us access this age group’s attention in a variety of learning environments. 

We will consider how to differentiate for all students, enhancing their self-awareness, ability to self-regulate and to take charge of their learning. We will look at accommodations, the use of technology and the benefits of truly connecting with this age group.
