Course Description

The UIC is facilitating a LIVE, free, all-day demonstration session of the Pavone, a multi-function nanoindentation device to measure the mechanics of soft biomaterials. As a potential new instrument for UNH, the Pavone enables researchers to analyze structural and functional properties of:

  • Hydrogels/aggregate gels
  • Live single cells/Monolayers/3D cell cultures
  • Tissue engineered Scaffolds and Matrix Structures
  • Ex-vivo tissues
  • And other biomaterials in near-physiological conditions.

Compatible with up to 2 x 96-well plates, the Pavone allows for high-throughput high-content screening of functional properties, including precise stiffness, viscoelasticity, adhesion, contraction, mechanosensing, and more. This new platform combines micro-mechanical characterization with microscopy and incubation, allowing fast and easy data collection. Due to pre-calibrated optical fiber sensors and pre-programmed experiments this instrument is a true time saver which can generate a large number of powerful results.

Researchers and affiliated parties are welcome to join this day-long session and are encouraged to bring samples to test. Zackary Tiedeman and Mitchell Evans from Optics11Life will be present the entire day to answer application-specific questions and provide up-close interaction with the system.

After enrollment, participants will receive more information in regards to specific program times and locations.

This program is offered by the UNH Instrumentation Center.
