Course Description

We will discuss the future of the automotive industry and the paradigm shift to electric and autonomous vehicles, including how the worldview of internal combustion engines is rapidly changing. Additionally, we will touch on a broad range of subjects including the history of automobiles to their future, how they helped create a car culture in America that shifted societies and populations from cities to suburbs, and how cars have gone from an extension of individual identity to a transportation tool. Finally, there will be an opportunity to address misinformation regarding electric vehicles and try to discover how they'll fit into our rural lifestyle. Presenter: Eric Meltzer Eric Meltzer has been writing his automotive column, Wheels, published weekly in the Conway Daily Sun for more than 10 years. A lifetime car guy, he met his wife of 33 years, Michelle, when he was working at a new car dealership and fixed her car after hours. Meltzer is passionate about vehicles that drive, ride, fly and float. His current stock consists of a wooden 1910 train caboose, a Cessna Skyhawk that he shares with his daughter and a constantly fluctuating inventory of cars and trucks.
