Course Description

Course Description:
This course will introduce the Safe System Approach to Safety, as well as how to improve safety by developing and implementing a local road safety plan (LRSP). LRSPs are a type of safety action plan and are also a FHWA proven safety countermeasure that local agencies can use to identify at-risk locations on their roadways and deploy cost-effective safety solutions. Participants will learn how to implement safety improvements targeted at areas that have a history of crashes, and also how to high-risk crash types and areas of their local road network that may exhibit conditions associated with high-crash areas. Participants will learn the steps to develop and implement a Local Road Safety Plan (LRSP) for their community, including an introduction to several tools, templates, and other resources to assist in the process.
