Course Description

Unpaved roads represent a significant portion of the local roadway network in New Hampshire communities. During dry weather conditions, gravel roads can generate excessive dust, leading to reduced visibility, resident complaints, environmental impacts, and the loss of valuable roadway aggregate.

This 3-hour Lunch & Learn session will provide practical guidance for municipal highway and public works staff on effective dust control strategies for unpaved roads. The course will review the causes of roadway dust, the importance of proper gravel road maintenance, and the role of dust suppressants in improving road surface performance and reducing maintenance costs.

Participants will learn how roadway structure, grading practices, moisture management, and material selection all contribute to effective dust control. The session will also explore commonly used dust control products and application techniques used by municipalities to improve gravel road conditions and extend the life of their roadway surface.

A guest presenter from Innovative Solutions will provide an overview of various dust control products currently used by municipalities and contractors, including how they work, where they are most effective, and considerations for proper application.

If a withdrawal is not received by UNH T2 at least 72 hours prior to the program start, the full program fee will be charged and is nonrefundable.  Substitutions are allowable at any time, and UNH T2 staff will be happy to assist in registering an alternative attendee from your organization at no cost.
