Course Description

Surveyors are often too quick to conclude that apportionments is a technique to resort to when they find that measurements don't agree with descriptions. More often than not, this results in making a bad situation worse. This workshop examines the conditions necessary for apportionment of excess and deficiency in the measurements of lot frontages or areas. It reviews in detail the survey methods of retracement and apportionment, and discusses the procedures to be followed when apportionment is necessary, or appropriate. Several diagrams illustrate a variety of conditions leading to different solutions with the same basic data, depending on the order and timing of the conveyancing. Actual court cases are included.
