As much as those in the helping profession would prefer otherwise, individuals tend to ask for help with their problems only when they have reached crisis proportions. Learn the theories and skills needed to manage a crisis to a successful conclusion, taking advantage of the opportunities for change and growth that also occur. You will review specific types of emergencies and their unique characteristics including: lethality, PTSD, sexual assault, personal loss, domestic violence and vicarious traumatization. Information and techniques will be introduced through PowerPoint, discussion, and role-plays. New as well as experienced professionals will benefit.
