Course Description

What does regulation have to do with education? Are you noticing more and more students who appear to have difficulty with simple routines, self-care issues, emotional control, motivation and self-regulation in general? In this workshop, we will focus on strategies to help the anxious, quirky, self-centered, lethargic and over-stimulated child. We'll review brain-based research on self-regulation, experiment with strategies from mindfulness to movement, and discuss what works best for your classroom setting. Today's child presents with needs that are unique based on upbringing, environment and circumstance. Let's put our heads together and give students coping skills leading to a peaceful, calmer classroom and a more effective learning environment for everyone. Note: This is a companion workshop to "Laying the Foundation to a Calmer Classroom--Promoting Wellness through the Day," however you do not need to take one workshop to register for the other. Both can be taken as stand-alones.
