Course Description

With the closure and bankruptcy of the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company in 1936, nearly half of Manchester, NH’s population was out of work, and the city faced economic ruin. Learn how a group of city leaders raised enough money to take ownership of the entire Amoskeag Millyard at the height of the Great Depression and brought over 100 new businesses into Manchester. Participants will experience an illustrated talk, followed by an opportunity to view related objects and documents from the association’s archives.
