PDT-TchSP-20 - Beyond the Lunch Bunch: Creating Effective Social Skills Groups in your School Community

Course Description

Working collaboratively, we will discuss ways to bring a social skills groups from an awkward lunch conversation to a social experience that your students enjoy and can identify and recognize that learning is taking place.  The workshop will focus on critical social skill development from understanding pragmatic language to navigating the world of relationships.  We will discuss how to shift the lens from the adults providing social skills curriculum and instructing the students on dos and don’ts of conversation-to goals and skills chosen by your students based on their daily experiences, social mistakes and successes.
