Course Description

IMPORTANT NOTICE: This program is scheduled as a face-to-face classroom training during the Fall 2020 semester, but may be moved online due to future recommendations for distance learning due to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).  Any updates will be posted on this page and all enrolled students will be notified by email of any anticipated curtailments.

This workshop explains that each behavior serves one of four functions (purpose). Not only will you understand each function but learn techniques on how to find the purpose (function) of the behavior so you can better address it in the classroom. Once you have identified why the student is having the behavior you can better plan interventions. Evidence based interventions will be shared throughout the presentation with handouts on each explaining how to implement them in your environment. Learn how to change behavior through reinforcement strategies so you can be preventative rather than reactive in your methods.  In addition, tools will be discussed on how to manage remote learning to best maximize student learning.
