PDT-BusPM-43 - Planning Your Project: A Hands-On Workshop to Plan Your Upcoming Project
Course Description
This workshop provides new and experienced project managers as well as anybody who needs to manage projects with the ability to work 1:1 with the facilitator to plan out an upcoming project. Students will bring to the workshop information about a project they need to launch within their company in order to spend a day planning out the project, including completing project plans to effectively manage their projects. For those students who do not have an active project to plan, but want to learn how to plan projects, ideas will be provided in the classroom for them to work with. Participants will be provided templates to use for project planning, including, but not limited to:
- Project Charter
- Scope Statement
- Project Team Resource Plan template
- Templates for Risk Planning
- Communication Plans
- People Change Management Plan
- A document for capturing and managing changes to the project
- Stakeholder Matrix
- Status Reporting template
- Project Closing Checklist
Participants will begin to build out their project schedules utilizing either a project scheduling tool they currently utilize or can download and utilize ProjectLibre, a free project scheduling tool.
Participants will need to bring their laptop to the classroom.
This hands-on project planning workshop is limited to 10 participants per class in order to ensure participants have sufficient 1:1 time with the facilitator to begin to build out their project planning documentation.

Anyone who needs to manage projects and wants to get their next project moving in the right direction by taking time to plan out the project.
